A happily borrowed idea

I love other people's blogs, they are just so jammed packed full of inspiration that I have to limit myself to just a brief glance now and again otherwise I could quite easily spend my whole life gathering wonderful bits of loveliness. Even more fabulous is that very few people mind if you copy their ideas, in fact in some cases it is encouraged. For example take the brilliant idea 52 weeks of happy from over at Little Birdie... who wouldn't want to post four things that have made them happy that week? I am a massive fan of focussing on what makes you happy, it's how I like to live my life and there it is in black and white, an invitation to join in all this weekly happiness from the lady herself.

The wonderful thing about the happy world of blogging is that I can join in and I can let Jen (I talk as if I know her which sounds a little cheeky) know that I have joined in and you never know she might even take a look at what made me happy this week.

1. Dressing up

2. Walking by the sea on New Years Day

3. Sketching and painting from a photo taken whilst out on the walk by the sea

4. Reading Anthony Browne books at the Anthony Browne exhibition - Through the magic mirror: The world of Anthony Browne

Thank you Little Birdie x

  1. Isn't it a great idea? I've joined too. And it's so interesting to read what other people find happy as well as finding our own 'happies'

Firsts

It's been a day of firsts. I have been feeling a little bit under the weather and after being sick this morning I did not want to sit in the car for hours. So my husband and children have gone to visit my family without me. This did make me so sad but as there was nothing I could do about it, I thought I would just do my best to enjoy having time completely to myself. I have never been alone in the house over night. People have been away and I've been away but I have never had the whole place to myself for the whole night. I've finally got to grips with instagram and how the liking and the following and the whole thing works. I even got my first ever like which was so exciting. I'm guessing it's pretty addictive. Who should I follow? Where do I find people who love the same things as me? I think I still need a bit of help. And for the first time ever, an ironing board has been the object of my desire. I don't think that it even crossed my mind that ironing...

My first giveaway - Mod Podge Paperweight

My first giveaway I have learnt so much about blogging in such a short space of time, but what seems strikingly obvious is how important your readers are. One of the other things I noted is, the generosity of the bloggers with their giveaways. Everyone likes to get something for nothing, it is always quite exciting to be a winner and what better way to keep and increase your readership. What's even better is, that I get to make up the rules. So I am very pleased to announce my first giveaway. This is it. It is a glass paperweight that I made today using some scrap material from my quilt, a charity shop treasure and one of my favourite new discoveries - Mod Podge How I made it Materials * A glass tile (I found this one in the 50p basket in a charity shop yesterday) *Some totally gorgeous fabric - this is Kaffe Fassett Fabric - Milliefiore - Red * Sparkle Mod Podge It was really quite simple after I had found all the materials. I measured and cut the fabric to the sam...

Gathered

The more I craft, the more I read and blog about craft. One of my favourite crafty magazines is Mollie Makes . If the world were just like an edition of Mollie Makes magazine then I would be very happy. It is just filled with the most deliciously fabulous craftiness and super talented people. I really do look forward to every copy dropping on the door mat each month. Recently life has got even better because the makers of Mollie Makes now produce a weekly online interactive magazine called Gathered. Once again it is full to the brim with beautiful loveliness and is out every Friday with all the best ideas to keep you busy over the next week. I do love it so and even better than all of that, this week one of my photos has been included in the Show and Tell collection. I was so excited. It's a photo of my crochet African flowers stacked up ready to make to make a Christmas stocking that you can see here and I am hoping to sell at the school Christmas fair on Thursday but i...
