Website Geek Anyhow

So what have I been doing with all my time lately, what are these changes that are a foot with my blog and now that the colder, darker evenings are drawing in, where will I be now I can't hang out on my allotment?

My latest adventure is into the world of website design, I have long had aspirations of being some kind of web geek and I really do feel that I have that capacity for web geek chic. I have built my blog and I am in my third year of sharing my thoughts with the world wide web, things really are a lot more global than I ever imagined. There are people who read my blog in Russia and I don't even know anyone who lives there!

These are my audience stats for the last month (geek jargon for who looks at my blog and from where)

 It always delights me to realise that it isn't just a handful of family and friends who look at my blog and so I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all of you lovely people.

My adventures into the geekier side of the net have led me to explore how internet search engines work (boring) and how to optimise my traffic (yawn). The results have been a slight change to my blog name - Ridgeway Cottage Anyhow. My number one Ozzie Chicklet reader (and sister) will appreciate just how much the Anyhow has influenced my life over the years and basically if you google Ridgeway Cottage Anyhow you are more likely to arrive at my blog now instead of a two bedroom house to rent in Scotland.

The Anyhow also influenced my decision to join the Women's Institute who are really allowing me to embrace my inner geekiness and have given me permission to build our Jubilee WI website.


In the world of search engines, this website is not fairing so well. I can't even get it to show up but it's early days, maybe I need to invest in some web geek chic fashion because if you look the part, everything will just fall into place.

Firsts

It's been a day of firsts. I have been feeling a little bit under the weather and after being sick this morning I did not want to sit in the car for hours. So my husband and children have gone to visit my family without me. This did make me so sad but as there was nothing I could do about it, I thought I would just do my best to enjoy having time completely to myself. I have never been alone in the house over night. My first giveaway - Mod Podge Paperweight

My first giveaway I have learnt so much about blogging in such a short space of time, but what seems strikingly obvious is how important your readers are. One of the other things I noted is, the generosity of the bloggers with their giveaways. Everyone likes to get something for nothing, it is always quite exciting to be a winner and what better way to keep and increase your readership.
