In May 2021 I started a PhD exploring the mental health benefits of craft and flow states / monotropism for people with learning differences. I am in the very early stages of the project but basically I have found that craft has really helped me and I want to do some research to see if it helps other people and why?
But what does that mean?
What is craft? Craft can mean anything that you are instrumental in making. You start out with nothing but an idea and then you go about collecting all the items you need to create a representation of that idea. Then you create something new, usually with your hands, that would not exist without you bringing it into existence and the creation very often has a specific meaning to you.
Example 1
A pair of socks
Example 2
An embroidered dress
What are flow states?
What is monotropism?
Who are people with learning differences?

Thank you very much for taking the time to make a comment, it really brightens my day and everyone loves getting a little bit of feedback. If you are viewing my blog through Facebook on an iPad, then you need to open my blog in Safari to comment....such a pain but I can't work out any other way to do it
