Christmas List - 15th December 2011

Charlie has been researching items for his Christmas list all year. There hasn't been a day where firstly he hasn't watched adverts and secondly hasn't shouted, "I want that for Christmas". This week both the children have written their letters to Father Christmas and sent them off to the North Pole. Thanks to The PortableNorthPole they have received a video message back from Santa confirming their present requests and their current position on the 'nice' list. All this wishing and believing has made me think what I would ask Santa for if he had enough room on his sleigh for presents for mummies.

    You should definitely be on the nice list and get at least one of your chosen items. I found a broken cuckoo kind of clock in the Pilgrim's Hospice shop in Margate recently. It is one of those with a weather man and lady but they don't pop out anymore whatever the weather because it's broken. I still had to buy it though because it's so pretty. Put it on your pinterest board. I haven't done mine yet...x

The Pink Ladies

As we sat in our classroom inspired horseshoe, designed to encourage conversation, there was a slightly uneasy silence. Those of us who knew each other, stole furtive glances, others returned our smiles politely although they were not privy to the planning and discussion that had occurred in preparation for the evening. Granny square Christmas

When I was younger I fell in love with the granny square blanket my Nan had made. It was in her tiny little Welsh cottage near the mountains and was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen. So many colours and combinations of colours, it was just truly amazing. I'm not sure if it's the happy childhood memories or my ever increasing passion for crocheting, but granny squares (and doilies) are something I could fill me life with. Even more delightful are the variations on granny squares. Star burst blanket, which used to be my favourite, but I have recently had a go at African flowers. They are quick and easy to make and so very pretty. Thanks to the brilliant free pattern that I found here , I have managed to make a little crochet Christmas stocking made out of 16 1/2 motifs.
